Gleanary is a knowledge library for your Mac that you run from a chat.
These docs are for people using Gleanary on a Mac. If you want to change the app’s code, read Build from source instead.
How Gleanary works
Section titled “How Gleanary works”You save things by talking to Gleanary. Paste a link into chat, and Gleanary saves the page, fills in its details, writes a summary and files it in your library. You can also ask questions, compare sources and have Gleanary write documents from what you saved.
Behind the chat are five agents. Each one has a job:
| Agent | What it does |
|---|---|
@assistant |
Answers questions and passes work to the others. |
@librarian |
Saves sources and notes, and files them. |
@researcher |
Writes summaries and comparisons from your sources. |
@curator |
Finds related items and proposes links between them. |
@writer |
Writes finished documents in your writing style. |
You don’t have to name an agent. Without a mention, the assistant takes the request.
Changes that touch many items, such as new titles, filings or links, wait for you. Gleanary shows what it wants to change, and nothing changes until you apply it. See Review changes.
